La baie du Mont-Saint-Michel est le théâtre des plus grandes marées d’Europe continentale. Dès que le coefficient de marée dépasse 110, le Mont redevient une île, l’espace de quelques heures. Au Mont-Saint-Michel ont lieu les plus grandes marées de l’Europe continentale, jusqu’à 15 mètres de différence entre basse et haute mer. Lors des grandes marées, la mer se retire à 15 kilomètres des côtes et remonte très rapidement.Afin d’observer le phénomène de la marée montante et l’arrivée du mascaret, il faut être présent 2 heures avant l’horaire de pleine mer.
Le Marathon du Mont-Saint-Michel
Chaque année cet évenement sportif rassemble des centaines de coureurs. Ce marathon figure parmi les plus beaux du monde ! Il est le seul qui permet de voir la ligne d’arrivée avant même d’avoir commencé !
Pour courir ou pour encourager les participants, rendez-vous chaque année à la fin mai.

Visites nocturnes de l’abbaye du Mont Saint-Michel
En juillet et août, l’abbaye du Mont Saint-Michel se visite aussi en nocturne.
